PITTSBURGH (AP) — Consol Energy Inc. said Monday that normal operations resumed at two coal mines in Pennsylvania where an above-ground conveyer belt failed.
The company said that operations at the Bailey Preparation Plant in southwestern Pennsylvania had resumed after a "partial structural failure" in a new belt system used to carry coal from the company's Bailey and Enlow Fork mines to a railroad loading area. The incident halted longwall production in the mines.
Consol announced on Aug. 1 that it had begun reconstruction work two days earlier, and it met its schedule for resuming operations. The company said that there were no injuries in the incident.
Also on Monday, the company stood by its earlier forecast of selling between 13.4 million tons and 13.9 million tons of coal during the third quarter.
Consul shares fell 48 cents to close at $31.58. After the update, they were up 2 cents to $31.60 in after-hours trading.
