WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. (AP) — A former supervisor at the Indian Point nuclear power plant in New York has been sentenced to 18 months of probation for trying to cover up fuel contamination.
The U.S. attorney's office says Daniel Wilson was also fined $500 at his sentencing Thursday in White Plains.
He had pleaded guilty in October to violating regulations of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission.
Wilson was chemistry manager at the Indian Point plant in February 2011 when diesel fuel for emergency generators was found to contain excessive particulate matter.
The complaint said he faked a test to show the problem had been solved, then lied about it.
The NRC is assessing whether plant owner Entergy Nuclear committed violations as well.
