VeraSun Chooses Hartley For Northwestern Iowa Ethanol Plant

Facility will produce 110 million gallons per year of ethanol and employ 50 people.

VeraSun announced Friday that it has informed the O’Brien County Economic Development Corp that Hartley, Iowa, has been selected as the location of its new 110 million gallon per year ethanol production facility in Northwestern Iowa. The site is located on approximately 350 acres southwest of Hartley.

“Our site selection has been based on criteria including corn availability, access to transportation, utilities and community workforce,” said Bruce Jamerson, president of VeraSun.

Construction of the plant, which is slated to begin later this year, will take about 16 months. When completed, the plant will process more than 39 million bushels of corn annually and employ approximately 50 skilled workers. VeraSun expects to enter into contracts with ICM and Fagen Inc. for engineering and construction services for the facility.
