Fire At Texas Exxon Mobil Plant

KINGSVILLE, Texas (AP) — Nobody has been hurt in a fire at a natural gas plant operated by Exxon Mobil Corp. in a blaze being allowed to burn itself out.

Exxon Mobil spokesman Dave Eglinton says the fire at the King Ranch unit at Kingsville continued burning Tuesday. The gas plant remains closed following the incident.

Eglinton says authorities are trying to determine what sparked the fire around 1 a.m. CST Monday. He described the blaze as a "very small fire" that is under control. Eglinton says the fire is contained to a single area within the plant. He did not elaborate.

The plant, in a rural area is about 150 miles southeast of San Antonio, processes an estimated 500 million cubic feet per day of natural gas and associated liquids.
