A $179 million chemical manufacturing plant is coming to Kentucky.
According to local media, WhiteRock Pigments (WRP) is planning to turn a vacant 305,000-square-foot building formerly owned by Alcoa into a new manufacturing facility. WRP plans to begin revamping the space early next year.
As part of the development plan, WRP was approved for $3 million in tax incentives through the Kentucky Business Investment program. WRP will also get up to $300,000 in tax incentives from another program that allows companies to recoup costs for construction, building necessities and R&D equipment.
WRP has reportedly developed a manufacturing process that is “environmentally friendly” to produce a number of products, including titanium dioxide.
WRP plans to open the new plant in April 2020 and the project is expected to create 124 full-time jobs.
