DuPont CEO Expects Further Delays With Dow Merger

DuPont executives assured investors this week that the planned merger with Dow should be approved by regulators. But he pushed back the timeline for when it could go through.

The timeline of the $130 billion-deal has been delayed twice since it was announced in December 2015. The most recently, the companies reported that they hoped to close in the first quarter of this year. They now expect that it could close in the first half.

European regulators recently expressed concerns about how the deal could impact innovation in the industry, particularly with agriculture chemicals. After merging, the newly formed DowDuPont will create the world’s largest crop protection and seeds company.

On an earnings call this week, DuPont executives said they are working on a “remedy package” for the regulators, Reuters reports.
