Last week at the Tokyo auto show Nissan revealed a concept car that “embodies Nissan’s vision for the future of EVs and autonomous driving.”
The new Nissan IDS Concept is both autonomous and electric and marks a major step for the automaker its goal of deploying “intelligent driving” technology in vehicles by 2020. But what really makes this car a standout is that the vehicle’s interior literally “shifts” depending on whether in it’s in the piloted or manual mode.
For instance, in self-driving mode the car’s seats will rotate inward while the steering wheel recedes into the dashboard — thus offering the driver more space to spread out and relax.
SO WHAT DO YOU THINK?
Is Nissan’s more personalized take on the autonomous EV a clever to sway consumers into the EV market? Or is the cutting-edge AI more cool than practical?
