Boeing Engineers Break Record for Farthest Paper Airplane Flight

The design was modeled after hypersonic aerospace vehicles.

Boeing engineers Dillon Ruble and Garrett Jensen recently broke the Guinness World Record for the farthest paper airplane flight.

The pair, with help from Nathan Erickson, flew their paper aircraft 290 feet on Dec. 2, 2022, breaking the previous record of 252 feet.

According to Boeing, the design was modeled after hypersonic aerospace vehicles.

The team practiced with the paper airplane for four months before they made their attempt at the record.

“For the Guinness World Records, we ended up going with A4-sized paper and went up to the maximum for weight, 100 grams per square meter,” Jensen said.

According to the report, it takes 20 minutes to accurately fold the team’s paper airplane design.
