Dyson Fined $1.45M After Factory Worker Nearly Killed

The worker sustained head and chest injuries.

Dyson has been fined ÂŁ1.2 million (about $1.45 million) after a worker in one of its factories was nearly killed in an accident.

The company, which builds vacuums and other household gadgets, pleaded guilty to violating health and safety laws, according to The Guardian.

In 2019, an employee at Dyson’s Malmesbury, Wiltshire facility was hurt when a 1.5 ton milling machine fell on him.

The worker sustained head and chest injuries that a health and safety inspector said could have been fatal.

According to the report, the employee narrowly escaped being crushed because the machine landed on toolboxes and the handle of a nearby machine.

Inspectors said that Dyson failed to provide the employees with “suitable and sufficient” information and training.

Dyson, which expressed gratitude that the employee was not more seriously hurt, had no penalties for work-related injuries prior to the 2019 incident.
