Deal to Bring Amazon Software to Stellantis Vehicles

This could help the carmaker catch up with Tesla.

Amazon and Stellantis announced plans to join forces to make cars and trucks that feature Amazon software in the dashboards.

Reuters reports the deal includes deploying electric vans manufactured by Stellantis on Amazon’s delivery network.

The software for the “digital cockpit” infotainment systems will begin appearing in Stellantis vehicles in 2024.

Stellantis said voice-controlled features would utilize Amazon’s Alexa technology.

The agreement allows Amazon to continue its efforts in the transportation industry.

The e-commerce company is already an investor in Rivian and previously agreed to purchase 100,000 electric delivery vans from the automaker.

Stellantis revealed a separate agreement that says Amazon will be the first customer of its line of electric delivery vans scheduled to launch in 2023.

The deals could help Stellantis in its pursuit to match Tesla’s production of vehicles with software-powered infotainment features.
