Chevron Adds Vaccine Mandate

The decision will affect thousands of workers.

Chevron will be the first big oil & gas producer to mandate vaccines for some of its workers.

The Wall Street Journal reports that Chevron now requires “expatriate employees, workers traveling internationally, and employees on U.S.-flagged ships” to be vaccinated.

This reportedly applies to thousands of employees.

The WSJ also says the company is mulling vaccine requirements for its entire workforce.

Chevron executives say they’re assessing the risk of infection based on its business units, as well as the availability of vaccines in specific countries where it operates.

If the mandates are applied broadly, it could mean mandatory vaccinations for 47,000 Chevron employees.

According to WSJ, other oil & gas companies are considering similar policies.
