Volkswagen Sales Up 15.3 Percent In November

The German automaker said they are on track to sell more than 8 million vehicles this year for the first time.

BERLIN (AP) — Volkswagen AG says its worldwide sales were up 15.3 percent in November compared with a year earlier and the company is on track to sell more than 8 million vehicles this year for the first time.

The German automaker said Friday that the Volkswagen group — which also includes brands such as Skoda and Seat — delivered 711,400 vehicles last month, compared with 617,200 a year earlier.

It says sales for the year's first 11 months rose 13.9 percent. They climbed to 7.51 million from 6.59 million.

Volkswagen board member Christian Klingler says the full-year target is "within reach." Last year, Volkswagen delivered some 7.2 million vehicles.

But Klingler says the company is preparing for a "very challenging" 2012 and points to increasing risks in European markets.
