German Firm Starts Building High-Tech Factory In Pa.

MS Systems, Inc. broke ground for a $3.5 million plant to manufacture its high-tech thickness-detection gauges near Pittsburgh.

MARS, Pa. (AP) — A German company is building a high-tech manufacturing plant near Pittsburgh.

The Butler Eagle (http://bit.ly/xzRYBM ) reports Thursday that IMS Systems, Inc. broke ground for a plant to manufacture its high-tech thickness-detection gauges.

The paper reports that it's the first plant the company has built outside of Germany, where IMS GmbH is based.

The 9,500 square-foot, $3.5 million manufacturing facility will be adjacent to IMS's North American Headquarters, which employs sales people.

The number of jobs projected for the new plant wasn't immediately available.
