Fiat Denies Alfa Romeo Sale Rumors

CEO Sergio Marchionne said he has no interest in selling Fiat's Alfa Romeo brand -- despite interest expressed by VW chairman Ferdinand Piech to reporters.

PARIS (AP) -- Fiat CEO Sergio Marchionne is fending off rampant chatter about industrial alliances and brand sales at the Paris Auto Show.

He said Thursday he has no interest in selling Fiat's Alfa Romeo brand -- despite interest expressed by VW chairman Ferdinand Piech to reporters.

The Fiat SpA CEO, who also runs Chrysler, says he is open to any alliances for the new Fiat Industrial business that strengthen the business.

Daimler's CEO said earlier that Daimler and Fiat weren't talking specifically about Iveco, Fiat's truck business. But Marchionne says the two companies are always chatting.

Marchionne also said that Ferrari, 85 percent owned by Fiat, could go public in the future, but not right away.
