CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (AP) — A federal prosecutor says a former chief executive of the nation's leading supplier of body armor to the military spent more than $350,000 on pens, some made of gold or silver.
David H. Brooks founded DHB Industries Inc. and is being tried on accusations of falsely inflating the value of the inventory of the company's top product, the Interceptor vest. He's also accused of making unauthorized expenditures.
The evidence was presented Thursday at his trial in Central Islip (EYE'-slip), N.Y. Brooks denies wrongdoing.
The president of an upscale pen company said on cross-examination that he didn't know whether Brooks gave the pens out for business purposes.
