Company cites ''considerable growth opportunities in the Czech market'' as the reason for the acquisition of Drinks Union, which has about 3 percent market share.

AMSTERDAM, Netherlands (AP) -- Heineken NV says it will buy Drinks Union, a Czech brewer, for an undisclosed sum.
 
Drinks Union, with 500 employees, has about 3 percent market share in the Czech Republic, Heineken says in a statement Tuesday, giving Heineken 12 percent market share over all.
 
The company cites ''considerable growth opportunities in the Czech market'' as the reason for the acquisition.
 
Drinks Union owns the popular Zlatopramen brand and three regional brands, Breznak, Louny and Dacick. In the Czech market, Heineken already operates Starobrno, Hostan, Zlaty Bazant, Krusovice and the Heineken brand.
