Lawsuits were filed last month in Sedwick County District Court in Kansas seeking damages from cantaloupe companies linked to a deadly listeria outbreak. The lawsuits seek damages from those companies on behalf of two victims, one of whom died and the other who still suffers from listeriosis. Food safety lawyer Bill Marler said:
"These are cases that should have been resolved. There's no question about the cause of their illness and no question about the cause of their deaths."
