Mining Equipment Firm To Open Va. Facility

A manufacturer of mining machinery and equipment plans to open a facility in Bland County, creating 50 jobs.

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — A manufacturer of mining machinery and equipment plans to open a facility in Bland County, creating 50 jobs.

Gov. Bob McDonnell announced Thursday that W&B Fabricators Inc. will invest $3.1 million in the operation.

The company has operated in Mercer County, W.Va., for more than 24 years and provides services to major coal operators throughout Virginia, West Virginia, Kentucky and Pennsylvania.

Its current specialty is rebuilding cutter head drums and conveyor booms for continuous miners.

McDonnell approved a $100,000 grant from the Governor's Opportunity Fund for the project. The Virginia Tobacco Indemnification and Community Revitalization Commission also approved $100,000 in Tobacco Region Opportunity Funds.
