Fla. Craft Distillers Bill Moves Forward

A bill that would allow Florida's craft distillers to sell their products on site is finally moving after a bottle limit was significantly reduced. The House Business and Professional Regulation Subcommittee approved the bill (HB 347) Wednesday after its sponsor amended it to reduce the number of bottles each customer can buy from 24 to 2.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) — A bill that would allow Florida's craft distillers to sell their products on site is finally moving after a bottle limit was significantly reduced.

The House Business and Professional Regulation Subcommittee approved the bill (HB 347) Wednesday after its sponsor amended it to reduce the number of bottles each customer can buy from 24 to 2.

Last week the committee voted against Rep. Ronald Renuart's bill, but decided to reconsider it. It had been opposed by groups representing alcohol distributers and retailers. Those groups now support it with the lower bottle limit.

Florida wineries and craft brewers are able to sell their products for customers to take home. The bill would allow the state's growing number of distilleries to do the same.
