Delaware Pickle Plant To Close

A New Jersey food company says it is closing a pickle production in Millsboro, putting about 200 employees out of work.

MILLSBORO, Del. (AP) — A New Jersey food company says it is closing a pickle production in Millsboro, putting about 200 employees out of work.

Pinnacle Foods Group said Friday that its Vlasic pickle production will consolidated at one plant in Imlay City, Mich.

The company said the consolidation is based on its decision to focus on its branded Vlasic business and de-emphasize its lower-margin, un-branded pickle business.

The Millsboro plant is expected to cease production late this year.

Pinnacle says all Millsboro employees will have the opportunity to apply for open positions at other Pinnacle facilities, and that it will meet with union officials at the Millsboro plant to discuss specifics of the transition.
