ConAgra To Expand Potato Plant

ConAgra Foods Inc. plans a $200 million expansion at its Lamb Weston frozen potato plant in Boardman, Ore., which will create about 100 jobs. The food maker says Friday that the expansion will add a new line to the plant and increase capacity for making french fries and other frozen potato products as consumer demand continues to grow domestically and internationally.

OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — ConAgra Foods Inc. plans a $200 million expansion at its Lamb Weston frozen potato plant in Boardman, Ore., which will create about 100 jobs.

The food maker says Friday that the expansion will add a new line to the plant and increase capacity for making french fries and other frozen potato products as consumer demand continues to grow domestically and internationally.

Construction on the addition is expected to begin in early 2013 and be completed in 2014.

The Lamb Weston plant is one of the largest employers in the Columbia River Basin. ConAgra operates seven facilities in the area and has nearly 4,500 employees, including 500 in Boardman.

ConAgra Foods, based in Omaha, Neb., makes products such as Slim Jim snacks and Peter Pan peanut butter.
