ENTERPRISE, Ala. (AP) — A poultry processing company has announced plans to invest $25 million to expand operations in southeast Alabama.

Colorado-based Pilgrim's Pride Corp. announced plans to renovate its facility in Enterprise and create a new feed mill in Pinckard on Wednesday.

In a statement, company officials said the expansion is aimed at bolstering the company's efficiency and competitiveness.

The company plans to start construction on the feed mill within a month and renovate the facility in Enterprise over the next six months.

Pilgrim's Pride officials say tax abatements from the Dale County Commission and the Ozark-Dale County Economic Development Corporation will offset the cost of construction and equipment.

Company officials say the feed mill will employ more than 25 people.
