MUNSTER, Ind. (AP) — The Land O'Frost lunch meat company is starting construction on a new headquarters building in northwestern Indiana. The company's new $6.4 million corporate headquarters in Munster will see it move about 50 employees from its current offices a few miles to the west, across the state line in Lansing, Illinois.

Indiana Governor Mike Pence joined company and local officials in a groundbreaking ceremony for the project. The Times of Munster and the Post-Tribune report company CEO David VanEekeren said the new building will include a pilot plant and test kitchen for developing recipes. The new building is expected to be finished in about a year. The company makes pre-sliced, pre-packaged meats and has more than 1,100 workers at production plants in Illinois, Kentucky, Arkansas and Nebraska.
