Consumers Energy Pushes Back Planned Shutdown

The Muskegon Chronicle reports Friday's announcement from the unit of Jackson-based CMS Energy Corp. now schedules the suspension of operations at facilities in the Muskegon, Monroe and Bay City areas until the first quarter of 2016 from early 2015.

On Friday the Muskegon Chronicle reported (https://bit.ly/1dwp3k6 ) Jackson-based CMS Energy Corporation has pushed off the suspension of operations at cold-fired facilities in the Muskegon, Monroe and Bay City areas until the first quarter of 2016 from early 2015. Company spokesman Roger Morgenstern says Consumers Energy has notified regulators and employees of its plans for the plants. The facilities involved are B.C. Cobb on Muskegon Lake, J.R. Whiting near Luna Pier in Monroe County and J.C. Weadcock on the Saginaw Bay. The word from Consumers Energy came on the same day that federal officials announced details of proposed regulations for new coal-fired plants.
