Hyundai Temporarily Halts Production At Ala. Plant

Executives say they temporarily shut down production at the company's Montgomery plant after discovering a problem with the paint process.

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) -- Executives with Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Alabama say they temporarily shut down production at the company's Montgomery plant after discovering a problem with the paint process.

Company spokesman Robert Burns tells The Montgomery Advertiser (http://on.mgmadv.com/wuz6X6) that a product in the painting process didn't meet Hyundai's specifications.

Burns said a new batch of the product had arrived, and production was back up and running Monday after the problem was discovered over the weekend.

Officials didn't say how many vehicles went through the production line Saturday night before the problem came to light.
