Qualcomm Announces Leadership Change and Appointment

– July 21, 2011 – Qualcomm Incorporated (NASDAQ: QCOM), a leading developer and innovator of advanced wireless technologies, products and services, today announced that Dr. Avneesh Agrawal, senior vice president of product management at Qualcomm CDMA Technologies, has been appointed senior vice president and president of Qualcomm India and South Asia. Kanwalinder Singh, senior vice president of Qualcomm and president of Qualcomm India, has been appointed senior vice president of business development in the newly created New Markets group within Qualcomm CDMA Technologies.

“I am pleased to announce Avneesh’s appointment. Avneesh played an instrumental role in the recent Atheros acquisition and transition of QCT’s Wireless Connectivity Products business to the new Qualcomm Atheros entity, and has contributed significantly to the company-wide effort on the development of OFDMA technology and LTE chipsets,” said Steve Mollenkopf, executive vice president and group president, Qualcomm. “His engineering background and experience in successfully leading projects across the company will enable him to lead strong business growth in India.”

“Over the past seven years, Kanwalinder has established Qualcomm’s successful business operations in India and created substantial growth for Qualcomm’s CDMA, WCDMA and LTE businesses in the region,” Mollenkopf said. “His proven experience in developing new opportunities will be of tremendous value as he steers expansion of QCT’s business beyond handsets and computing.”

Dr. Agrawal has more than 17 years experience in the semiconductor and communications fields. During his time at Qualcomm, he has contributed to developments in Globalstar, UMTS chipsets, OFDM-based next generation wireless technologies, wireless connectivity, as well as venture investment and research in new technologies. Dr. Agrawal has been granted 64 U.S. patents and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Systems Engineering and Master of Science and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering, all from Stanford University.
