Lennox Move Production Line From Iowa To SC

The company is uncertain how many of the 80 workers on the production line would be affected.

MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (AP) -- Lennox Industries will move a portion of its operations at its air conditioner plant in Marshalltown to its plant in Orangeburg, S.C., in early 2012.

Company spokeswoman Cynthia Baker told the Times-Republican in Marshalltown (http://bit.ly/o8pDax ) that Lennox was switching locations for production of air handlers. Baker was uncertain how many of the 80 workers on the production line would be affected.

Baker says employees wanting to follow their jobs to South Carolina would be handled on a case-by-case basis.

According to the company's website, the Marshalltown plant employs about 1,200.

Lennox announced earlier this month that salaried employees would take a 6-12 percent pay cut from Sept. 1 through the end of the year to control costs. CEO Todd Bluedorn is taking an 18 percent cut.
