Firestone To Add 100 Jobs At Arkansas Plant

Firestone Building Products Co. says it will spend $20 million to expand the plant and plans to add 100 jobs at its manufacturing plant.

PRESCOTT, Ark. (AP) -- Firestone Building Products Co. says it plans to add 100 jobs at its manufacturing plant in Prescott.

Company officials joined local and state leaders in making the announcement Monday. The company says 418 jobs at the plant will be retained and that it will spend $20 million to expand the plant, which opened in 1983.

Firestone produces a commercial roofing membrane at the plant.

The company also says it is giving $100,000 toward the development of a science center at a local elementary school. Firestone Building Products President Ken Weaver says the company is happy to be in Prescott and wants to be a great employer and an outstanding corporate citizen.

Gov. Mike Beebe says the announcements show Firestone's dedication to Prescott and Nevada County.
