Coca-Cola Names Howard Buffett To Board

ATLANTA (AP) -- Coca-Cola Co. has appointed Howard G. Buffett, the eldest son of billionaire investor Warren Buffett, to its board of directors.

The world's largest beverage company said Thursday that the election of 55-year old Buffett is effective immediately.

Buffett is president of the Howard G. Buffett Foundation, a humanitarian organization that supports agriculture, nutrition water and conservation. He also serves on the board of Berkshire Hathaway Inc., his father's investment firm and the largest shareholder in Coca-Cola.

Buffett served 10 years on the board of Coca-Cola Enterprises, one of the largest Coca-Cola bottlers in the world. Coca-Cola Co. acquired North American operations of Coca-Cola Enterprises earlier this year.
