Two Hurt In Texas Chemical Plant Explosion

CROSBY, Texas (AP) -- Two people are in the hospital after being injured in an explosion at a chemical plant east of Houston.

KTRK-TV of Houston reports that the explosion occurred at the KMCO plant in Crosby at about 6:30 a.m. Friday.

Chemical leaks have not been reported but police are keeping people away from the plant as a precaution. Hazardous material teams are also conducting air quality tests.

One of the injured is in critical condition, according to KTRK. The second person is in stable condition.

The cause of the blast is unknown.

KMCO manufactures antifreeze, brake fluids and other chemical products. The plant is in Crosby, a town about 35 miles east of Houston.
