MARION, Ind. (AP) -- General Motors Co. says it's investing $364 million in its Marion Metal Center in Indiana and will employ about 230 workers transferring from plants in Michigan and Ohio.
The automaker announced the expansion Monday. It says the plant already employs about 115 people who worked at a plant in Grand Rapids, Mich., and is bringing in a similar number from a plant in Mansfield, Ohio.
GM says hourly and salaried employment at the Marion plant now stands at 1,106.
The plant stamps and assembles sheet metal components for cars, trucks and SUVs. The parts include doors, hoods and quarter panels.
GM says the expansion will be completed by June 2010.
