FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) -- A group of battery manufacturers may seek a federal loan to restart a project in Hardin County that failed to win a federal grant earlier this year.
James J. Greenberger, founder of a consortium called the National Alliance for Advanced Transportation Batteries, says it's members, including Procter & Gamble, Duracell and 3M, are still interested in pursuing a project in Kentucky.
Greenberger told The Courier-Journal the group still needs to talk to the U.S. Department of Energy officials to determine whether it would be a viable candidate for a loan of up to $340 million.
The project failed in August to win a grant to help finance the facility that would produce lithium ion batteries for automobiles.
