Xerox Paper Uses Fewer Trees

Mechanical fiber paper for digital printing uses half as many trees as traditional paper to produce.

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (AP) - Office-equipment manufacturer Xerox Corp. on Monday said it will market a paper for digital printing that uses half as many trees as traditional paper.

The paper, Xerox High Yield Business Paper, is a mechanical fiber paper that uses 90 percent of trees used to make it, while traditional digital printing paper uses just 45 percent of trees.

The paper is also lighter than other digital printing paper, which lowers the cost to mail printed material, Xerox said.

The paper will be available Aug. 1 through Xerox's direct sales force.
