Force Protection Receives $490 Million Vehicle Contract From U.S. Marine Corps

Ladson, S.C.-based company will supply 1,000 vehicles for U.S. Marine Corps’ Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicle program.

LADSON, S.C. - Force Protection, Inc, a manufacturer of ballistic- and mine-protected vehicles, announced Tuesday that it has been awarded a $490 million contract to supply 1,000 vehicles for the U.S. Marine Corps’ Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicle program.

The order includes 300 Category I Cougar 4X4 and 700 Category II Cougar 6X6 vehicles.

The vehicles will be manufactured in Ladson, S.C.; Charlotte, Mich.; Kings Point, N.C.; Sealy, Texas; and by General Dynamics Land Systems, Lima, Ohio.

General Dynamics Land Systems, a business unit of General Dynamics, manufactures land and amphibious combat systems for the U.S. Army, U.S. Marine Corps, and allied nations, and shares in the production and program management of the contact under its joint venture agreement with Force Protection.
