Ametek To Buy Parent Of German Automation Firm

The privately held company makes motion-control systems for factory equipment and medical devices.

BERWYN, Pa. (AP) — Electronic instruments maker Ametek Inc. said Thursday that it agreed to buy the parent of automation-technology provider Dunkermotoren GmbH, based in Bonndorf, Germany.

Financial terms were not disclosed. The privately held company makes motion-control systems for factory equipment and medical devices. It has facilities in Germany, China and Serbia and is expected to post 2012 sales of about $200 million, Ametek said.

Ametek is acquiring the business from European buyout firm Triton. The deal is expected to close in the second quarter.

Shares of Ametek rose 89 cents to $50.11 in morning trading.
