SPRING HILL, Tenn. (AP) -- Thirty-six union workers who are returning to General Motors' Spring Hill manufacturing plant have begun orientation.
The Daily Herald (http://bit.ly/HelUFmhttp://bit.ly/HelUFm ) reports the employees began orientation Monday to staff the new flexible plant operations.
The paper said 28 of them previously worked as United Auto Workers team leaders when the Chevrolet Traverse completed its build out in November 2009, then was idled.
Chairman Mike Herron of UAW Local 1853 said many returning members are displaced workers who went to other GM plants while waiting on the Spring Hill facility to come back online.
He said all 333 UAW members eligible to return to work in Spring Hill are expected back by July 2.
