MACON, Ga. (AP) -- A spokeswoman for the Boeing Co. says the aerospace company won't have to cut any jobs from its Macon plant this year after all.
In January, the company said 70 jobs would be eliminated in Macon during 2011 from the C-17 line at its plant near the Middle Georgia Regional Airport, and another 20 jobs would be eliminated in 2012 because the U.S. Air Force is no longer buying the cargo plane.
Boeing spokeswoman Cindy Anderson said Wednesday the company plans to keep its workforce in Macon at about 500 this year.
Anderson says work on the CH-47 Chinook helicopter and the A-10 attack jet has been increased in Macon.
The twin rotor CH-47 is a workhorse for the Army's mission in Afghanistan.
