GE Workers In Kansas To Vote On Contract

Union workers at a General Electric plant in Kansas will vote next week on a proposed contract that would avert a strike on July 1.

WINFIELD, Kan. (AP) -- Union workers at a General Electric plant in Kansas will vote next week on a proposed contract that would avert a strike on July 1.

If workers at the GE Engine Service in Strother Field and Winfield approve the contract in next Wednesday's vote, it would keep them on the job through June 15, 2015.

Union delegates from local plants voted Wednesday to approve the contract offer and it to workers for approval or rejection.

The Winfield Daily Courier reports that 575 members of the International Union of Electronic Workers/Communications Workers of America will vote on the contract next Wednesday in Cowley County.

Company and union executives agreed to the tentative contract Sunday.
