CARACAS, Venezuela (AP) -- Workers at Venezuela's Coca-Cola bottler are striking to demand salary increases and contract changes.
Union leader Alexander Cedeno says over 1,000 employees at the company's bottling plant in the city of Valencia will continue the work stoppage until their demands are met.
Coca-Cola FEMSA de Venezuela SA, a Mexican-owned bottler, operates four plants and more than 30 distribution centers in the South American nation.
Cedeno told the state-run ANB news agency on Monday that workers are demanding salary hikes and contractual benefits including medical insurance for extended family members.
Representatives of Coca-Cola FEMSA de Venezuela SA did not immediately return calls seeking comment.
The strike began last week.
