LANSING, Mich. (AP) -- Ford Motor Co., General Motors Corp. and Chrysler Group LLC all plan to add or retain Michigan jobs with the help of state tax incentives.

The Michigan Economic Growth Authority was set to approve tax incentives for the automakers and several other companies Tuesday.

Ford has said it plans to hire 1,200 new workers in Michigan by 2013 if the state approves the incentives. Ford would invest $850 million in several Detroit-area plants to build its new six-speed transmissions and improve facilities.

Ford plans to hire 900 hourly manufacturing workers and 300 engineers and other salaried workers.
