HARRISONBURG, Va. (AP) -- Tyson Food Inc. has laid off 24 workers at its poultry processing plant in Harrisonburg.
Tyson spokesman Gary Mickelson told The Daily News-Record that the workers collected chickens from area farms. The Arkansas-based company decided to hire a contractor to perform that work.
Mickelson says the positions were eliminated last Friday. The workers were notified Sept. 1.
The Harrisonburg plant has about 500 employees.
