InBev Beers Blockade Continues

Unions have blocked InBev’s breweries for a week to protest plans to cut 263 of 2,700 jobs in Belgium, where world's biggest brewer has its headquarters.

LEUVEN, Belgium (AP) -- Unions have maintained their blockade of AB InBev breweries in Belgium and supermarkets fear that supplies of favorites like Stella Artois and Leffe could start drying up next week.

Unions have blocked the breweries for a week to protest the plans to cut 263 of 2,700 jobs in Belgium, where the world's biggest brewer has its headquarters.

The HoReCa group of restaurant and bar owners said they still had ample supplies to keep going. Delhaize spokeswoman Liesbeth Rogiers said it was "not impossible" to start having problems with some supplies of mass consumption beers from next week.
