Union Blocks InBev Beers Over Labor Dispute

Brewer AB InBev and unions are trying to negotiate an end to a weeklong blockade of the brewery over plans to cut 263 of 2,700 jobs at the company’s Belgium headquarters.

LEUVEN, Belgium (AP) -- Brewer AB InBev and unions are trying to negotiate an end of a weeklong blockade of the brewery that threatens to dry up taps of Stella Artois and Leffe around the country.

Unions have blocked the brewery to protest the plans to cut 263 of 2,700 jobs in Belgium, where the headquarters of the world's biggest brewer is.

There are fears that supermarkets and bars dotted around country might run out of supplies.

The company refused to comment Thursday while the talks were ongoing.
