More than 700 employees at Motor Coach Industries have accepted a new contract offer from the company.

WINNIPEG (CP) -- More than 700 employees at Motor Coach Industries have accepted a new contract offer from the company.

Members of local 1953 of the International Association of Machinists voted 87 percent in favor of the new deal on Saturday.

They will be getting a wage increase of 11 percent over three years and a $1,250 signing bonus.

Two weeks ago, 93 percent of workers, including welders, painters, and maintenance staff, voted in favor of strike action after rejecting a contract offer.

The Winnipeg based company is the largest manufacturer of coaches for the tour, charter, and commuter transit sectors in the U.S. and Canada.

It is undergoing a restructuring plan in an effort to shed $420 million of debt.
