CLYDE, Ohio (AP) -- Officials in Ohio say Whirlpool Corp. is cutting up to 300 jobs at its washing machine plant in northern Ohio.
Officials in the town of Clyde are hoping that the layoffs are only temporary until demand picks up again.
They say workers were told of the changes Tuesday night.
Clyde Mayor Scott Black says the layoffs could begin in early December.
Whirlpool's factory in Clyde employs about 3,500 people.
