More than 1,500 hourly workers are represented by the United Dairy workers, an employee bargaining committee.

Wells' Dairy, which makes blue Bunny ice cream and frozen novelties, wants to cut $5 million in employee pay and perks as part of a move to control costs to meet the company's financial goals.

The current three-year contract is to expire at the end of December.
