ATHENS, Ga. (AP) -- Wood products manufacturer Louisiana-Pacific Corp. said Tuesday it plans to cut 90 jobs Nov. 3 at its strand board factory in Athens.
The company blamed a downturn in the U.S. housing market for flagging sales of strand board.
The plant makes roof sheathing products used mainly in residential construction.
Mary Cohn, a company spokeswoman, said about 27 employees will remain on the payroll.
Cohn said affected workers will be offered a severance package.
The state Department of Labor said it will offer displaced employees help in finding new jobs.
