Tree Island Workers Approve Strike Mandate

Wire maker said workers represented by the Teamsters at its manufacturing plant in Richmond, B.C., have voted to give their union a strike mandate.

VANCOUVER (CP) -- Tree Island Wire Income Fund said Tuesday that workers represented by the Teamsters at its manufacturing plant in Richmond, B.C., have voted to give their union a strike mandate.

However, the fund said 72-hour strike notice has not yet been served and negotiations between the Teamsters and company are ongoing.

Tree Island owns Tree Island Industries Ltd., a producers of wire and fabricated wire products.
