MONTEREY, Tenn. (AP) -- Poultry processor Perdue Farms is laying off some workers at its plant in Monterey.
Company Vice President Julie DeYoung said a total of 76 employees were told of their layoffs, which take effect when a production line closes July 11.
Affected workers are part of an operation that produces individually frozen foods.
Those workers would be given first consideration for any other jobs opening at the plant. For those furloughed, callbacks will be based on seniority.
Perdue employs about 2,000 people at the plant and DeYoung said no layoffs are planned on the eight other production lines.
