Dresser-Rand Employees Strike

Employees of turbine maker for the petroleum business go on strike when contact expires.

HOUSTON (AP) - Dresser-Rand Group Inc., which makes turbines for the petroleum business, said a strike has begun at its plant in Painted Post, N.Y., after it failed to reach an agreement with the worker's union, IUE-CWA Local 313.

The company said late Sunday it was unable to agree to the contract's terms, which expired on Aug. 3.

Dresser-Rand did not specify how many workers are affected by the strike.
